The Aral Sea

The Aral Sea, which lies between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, was once the 4th largest lake in the world; however, now much of the sea has been reclaimed by desert.

Issyk Kul

Issyk Kul, located in Kyrgyzstan, is the second largest high mountain lake in the world, stretching over a 100 miles in length. It ranks among the world's deepest lakes, and is a major tourist destination for Central Asians.
